Family Fun

On October 24th, my uncle and aunt who live near Miami, stopped by for the day with my mom and two sisters in tow. I knew my mom and sister Kit were due to come to stay for about a week after their visit to the Miami area, but seeing my sister Jennifer was a surprise. She was able to get a few days off from work and flew down to meet up with my uncle, aunt, mom and sister Kit. She was only able to spend the day here too, so she left with my uncle and aunt.

My mom and Kit were here until the 2nd of November, so we had several days to enjoy the area's attractions and one another's company.

Some of the highlights...

Boca Grande and a day at the beach...We played in the surf and collected many pretty shells...

We were lucky to see this live Calico Crab. Usually only fragments of their shells are found on the beach.

Playing putt-putt golf and then getting our nails done...

90-minute swamp buggy tour through Babcock Ranch

Where we saw many animals along the way...like gators, turkeys, cows, pigs, birds and panthers...

Another day at the beach. This time on Sanibel Island. More pretty shells...

We took a boat trip up the Peace River and Shell Creek...

That evening we went to the rooftop of a local hotel to watch the sun set...

In my town's historical district the home owners decorate their houses for Halloween and starting at around six in the evening, parents bring their kids so that they can go trick-or-treating. The streets get crowded. People whose kids are too old to trick-or-treat (like me) wander the crowded streets to see the decorations and costumed kiddies (and adults)...

The day after Halloween I took my mom and Kit to the nearby town where their flight back to Indiana would be taking off the following day. We were able to visit Yam. She gave my mom and Kit a tour of her room, dorm and the campus. We had a delicious lunch with Yam and did some shopping before we left her and headed for our hotel room.

We had fun at the hotel. We splashed in the pool and laid in the sun for a while.

When it was bedtime, Kit and I shared a queen-sized bed and Mom had one all to herself. We played word games as we tried to fall asleep. There was lots of laughing involved.

The next morning I dropped Mom and Kit off at the airport. We said our goodbyes, sans tears.

I had a great time while they were here and I know they did too. Time flew by as it is wont to do when you are having a good time.

  1. Looks like you had a great time in paradise. Show those pictures again when the snow is flying up here and I will be booking a flight! That photo of you is very good.

  2. What a wonderful time we had visiting you and your family. Sitting outside here does not compare to sitting over there, I can see my breath. Thanks again for the memories..Kit & Mom
