My Baby Isn't A Baby Anymore

My baby turned 18 today.

Spud, being an 18 year-old male, has the responsibility of signing up for the Selective Service System. He could sign-up on line, but he is going to the local post office to fulfill his duty like his father did nearly 30 years ago.

Spud's first duty as an adult.

An adult.

Today I became the mother of two adult children (now there's an oxymoron for you) and I felt a little twinge of disbelief and sadness that I am even old enough to own that title.

  2. A friend of mine (on those difficult mothering days) reminds herself that she is not raising children, she is raising ADULTS. You've done a GREAT job, Jill. Happy Birthday to Spud!

Wasn't he just eating popsicle in my backyard and playing in the sprinkler?
