A Baby Boomer's Hypothesis

A Baby Boomer is anyone who was born between the years 1946 and 1964.

The Colonel and I fall near the tail end of the Baby Boomer timeline.

The other day we were at the craft store Michaels and when we were in the check out line I spotted this...

Cinnamon flavored toothpicks.

The Colonel and I immediately remembered our high school days (we went to separate high schools in different towns) when some of our classmates would make their own cinnamon toothpicks (flat not round) and sell them to others at school (this was greatly frowned upon by the school authorities).

The "Cinnamon Stick Deals" went down in the hallways between class periods. Witnessing a deal go down was like watching a drug deal take place. Money would exchange hands and then the buyer would walk away with their homemade sticks. I had to admire their entrepreneurial spirit even though selling the toothpicks in school was "illegal".

The fact that we saw the cinnamon sticks for sale (targeting Baby Boomers like us) in a national craft store, far from where The Colonel and I grew up, caused me to hypothesise that the selling of homemade cinnamon toothpicks was probably found throughout schools in every state.

My hypothesis was backed up by the checkout lady (she looked to be of Baby Boomer age) when she said they were sold in her high school too here in Florida.
